Generate a Super Contribution or MVR File

(Australia only) Use the PR Super File Generate form to generate comma-separated values (.csv) formatted contribution files in QuickSuper and SAFF CSV format, or to generate a member verification request (MVR) file which is also supported in the SAFF CSV format.

The form supports the generation of contribution files in several different formats, including SAFF CSV, which adheres to the Australian Taxation Office's (ATO) SuperStream Version 3 (v3) standards. The files must be submitted to the Superannuation Clearing House or to a gateway, such as OZEDI.
Attention: Before using the OZEDI gateway to submit a file for the first time, consult with OZEDI support for more information on how to get started.
Important: The purpose of the MVR file is to confirm employee and fund details while onboarding a new employee or when an employee has a change in marital status, correction of date of birth, TFN, or member ID, or switches to a different superannuation fund. These details must be verified prior to making initial contribution to the employee's fund.

Confirm that your Clearing House will accept an MVR as a SuperStream v3 file prior to use. Additionally, all verification responses should be stored for future reference.

To generate a file:

  1. Open the PR Super File Generate form.
  2. In the Clearing House field, enter the code for the clearing house you want to include, or press F4 for a list of clearing houses.
The File Format populates based on the Clearing House.
  3. In the File Format drop-down, choose one:
    • Select SAFF CSV and then select a value from the Message Type drop-down.
    • Select M - Member Verification Request and skip to Step 8.
  4. When File Format is SAFF CSV, select a value from the Message Type drop-down. If you select M - Member Verification Request, skip to Step 8.
  5. (SAFF CSV) Select the Pay Date.
This is the actual date the employees were paid.
  6. In the PR Group field:
    • To generate a file without regard to any specific PR Group, leave this field blank.
    • To generate a file for a specific PR Group within the PR Company, enter the PR Group number, or press F4 to select from a list.

    • (For QuickSuper file format only.) Use the Begin Date and End Date fields to filter records for the QuickSuper file.
Note: Pay period end dates that fall within this range of dates determine the pay periods that are used for contribution calculations. (Includes closed pay periods only.) See Begin Date / End Date for more information on these selections.
    • (For SAFF CSV format only.) The End Date is enabled when PR Group is selected, and can be used optionally to filter records as the pay period ending date.
  7. In the File Payment Date field, enter the date on which you intend for the super funds payment(s) to occur. This date will be embedded in the file itself.
  8. In the Employee field, enter an employee number, or press F4 to select from a list.
Note: For contribution files, this field is optional and not typically used. However, it is required for MVR files, which can only be generated for one employee at a time.
  9. (Optional) Enter a File Reference code or description that will identify this generated file as unique to the clearing house. If left blank, the system uses a generic file name with the File Payment Date in it.
Important: Using this default value is highly recommended. Though optional, the File Reference is used as the default filename when saving and also when locating the submission in the contribution history (accessible via the PR Superannuation Contribution report, under Payroll > Reports).
  10. Select Generate File.
A Save Super File As window opens.
  11. Edit the Save As location and file name as necessary, and select Save.
Important: Any changes to the file name in the Save Super File As window will not change the File Reference identifier used in the contribution history.
Submit the generated file to the Clearing House or to a gateway, such as OZEDI.
