Bid Results Listing tab
The Bid Results Listing tab serves as the primary interface for Market Analysis, providing tools to locate estimates, filter historical bid data, and initiate the Bid Results creation or import process.
To access the Bid Schedule Listing tab, select Bid Results from the Market Analysis area tab.
The values in Bid Results only reflect the values in the Base Bid. Change Order items and values are excluded.
When you perform a market analysis, the Bid Listing tab is your starting point. To compare your bid with those of your competitors, you first need to select an estimate and create bid results from it.
Locating a Specific Estimate in a Long List
For situations where your list of estimates is long, the Bid Listing tab provides a variety of navigation, filtering, and sorting options to help you locate a specific estimate or folder.
The Estimates and All Estimates system folders
When you are at the highest level of your folder hierarchy, the Look In list displays two folders, Estimates and All Estimates. These system folders are provided to help you navigate to a specific estimate or folder that you want to analyze.
-
Estimates: The Estimates folder serves as the root folder.
-
All Estimates: The All Estimates folder is only visible if there is a folder structure created under the Estimates folder. It's a virtual folder which when selected, shows you all estimates to which you have access in a "flattened" view, stripped of all other folder parameters. In the All Estimates view of estimates, you still retain navigation, filtering, and sorting capabilities.
Using the Look In list
There are several ways to navigate the Estimate folder hierarchy using the Look In list:
- You can use your mouse to scroll through the Look In list. This list shows your current folder and the hierarchical structure of folders above it, if any.
- You can also select the Up One Level button
to the right of the Look In list. This navigates you to the folder view above your current level. If this button is not available, it means that you are already in the folder at the highest level.
- To navigate down the Estimate folder hierarchy on the Bid Listing tab, just double-select any folder.
Using the Search box
In the Search box, start typing the letters of the estimate or folder you're looking for. The list will filter results with each keystroke.
If you want to restart your search, you can:
- Select the Clear Search icon.
- Select existing text and type new search elements over it.
- Backspace to any character and retype new search characters.
Filtering the Estimate List
To filter the list of estimates:
- Select the Filter estimates check box at the bottom of the tab.
- Next, select a value from one or more of the following boxes:
- Status — View estimates that are in a particular phase of the bidding process. Possible Status selections include Active, Pending, or Under Contract.
- Primary Customer — Use this field to view only those estimates that are associated with a particular primary customer.
- Competitor — Use this field to view only those estimates that are associated with a particular competitor.
- Estimate Type — Filtering by estimate type will display bids belonging to a specific classification. Public and Private are possible examples.
- Estimator — Filter by estimator to display bids associated with a particular estimator.
- Bid Results — Use this field to view estimates based on whether or not bid results are included.
You can switch to the unfiltered view by clearing the Filter estimates check box. If you re-select the check box, you will restore your most recent combination filters.
Jump to a certain place on the estimate list
B2W Estimate's type-ahead feature can help you find the estimate or folder you are looking for quickly. To jump to a specific item, select the estimate list and then type the first few letters of the estimate title or folder name you're looking for.
For example, to locate an estimate with a title beginning with the letter S, you would select the estimate list, type the letter S. B2W Estimate would scroll the estimate list to the appropriate place.
Resize columns to see full descriptions
You can resize the columns on the Bid Listing tab so that you can see the full descriptions of the information these columns contain.
To resize a column, drag the boundary on the right side of the column heading until the column is the width you want.
Customize columns
Use the Columns Manager dialog box to customize that columns that appear in the estimate list view on the Bid Listing tab. You can add or remove columns and you can specify the order in which they appear and their width.
B2W Estimate saves each user's unique column settings. This means that your custom settings will be restored the next time you log in, even if you log in from another workstation.
To access the Columns Manager dialog box, right-select anywhere on the column-header area above your estimate list.
Creating Bid Results
Select the Bid Results Details tab. If you have already created bid results for the selected estimate, you go directly to the Bid Results Details tab. If this is the first time you are analyzing the selected estimate, you need to create bid results from it. The Create Bid Results Wizard opens to guide you through the process.
The Create Bid Results Wizard
The first time you select an estimate and select the Bid Results Details tab, the Create Bid Results Wizard opens. This wizard helps you set up bid results options for the selected estimate. It will prompt you for the following:
- Your preferred data entry method. You can enter data manually or you can import bid results.
If you choose to enter bid results manually, finishing this wizard takes you to the Bid Results Details tab.
If you choose to import bid results, finishing this wizard opens the Import Bid Results Wizard.
- Your preferred bid results format.
If you choose to enter data manually, you need to choose either As a total bid price or By pay item.
If you choose By pay item, you then need to choose either Unit prices or Total prices.
The Import Bid Results Wizard
If needed, finishing the Create Bid Results Wizard opens the Import Bid Results Wizard. This wizard will prompt you for the following:
- The location of the import file.
- Method for handling competitor prices, either Unit Price or Total Price.
- Competitors. The wizard lists all competitors defined in the Resources area.
- Bid results mapping. This shows how the columns you are importing will map to the columns in the import file.
Finishing the wizard takes you through a summary screen, then the Import Bid Results Completed dialog box, and then the Bid Results Details tab.
