What's New in B2W Estimate 17.1

B2W Estimate 17.1 brings enhancements to costing labor, calculating indirects, and working with WBS estimates, as well as bug fixes.

Cost labor by the week and the month

B2W Estimate 17.1 adds support for costing labor by the week (WK) and the month (MO). Additionally, you can set burdens on labor to be calculated by the week or the month.

Calculate indirect items by man hour

You can now create indirect items which calculate their value based on the man hours in your estimate. You can choose to calculate the indirect items cost either from the total number of man hours in your estimate, or from the man hours within a portion of the estimate within a phase, work type, tag value or alternate.

Apportion WBS by quantity, man hours, crew days or total cost

B2W Estimate 17.1 expands the options you have for apportioning WBS levels in a hybrid pay item/WBS estimate. You can now choose to apportion by percentage (the existing option), quantity, man hours, total cost or crew days of the level you are apportioning.

For example, you might have a WBS level with a quantity of 13,200 TONS that you want to split into 2700 TONS to one pay item, 515 TONS to five other pay items and 7,925 TONS to the last pay item. Expressed as percentages, those number are bit unwieldy to work with. With this enhancement you can add the pay items to be apportioned to the list, and then type in the exact number of tons you wish to see be apportioned to each one. No more converting to percentage – B2W Estimate will do that work for you!

Enhanced Estimate Check Wizard for WBS apportioning

The Estimate Check Wizard which tests for WBS levels which are not apportioned at 100% was updated in 17.1 to check all of the apportioning options.

While developing an estimate, you may not have all of the pay items set up. That’s no problem though – you can rely on the Estimate Check Wizard to spot any WBS levels that need to be fully apportioned so that you can verify and correct them as need be before the bid goes out.

New values added to Import Pay Items Excel format

You can now import Phase, Alternate, and Job Cost ID Codes with the B2W Estimate Import Pay Items Wizard with a properly formatted Excel spreadsheet.

Added Total Equipment Hours Column to all estimate grid-views

You can now see the total estimated hours for equipment within a Crew, Task, or Item/WBS Level on the Item Listing, Item Pricing, and Estimate Detail child grids.
