New Estimate Wizard

The New Estimate Wizard guides you through configuring project details, customer data, and item formats to initialize a new estimate.

The New Estimate Wizard streamlines the process of creating a new estimate. There are several important decisions that you need to make when you create a new estimate. These decisions tell B2W Estimate how to configure the estimate when it is created.

On the New Estimate Wizard Welcome page, select Next. The General Information page opens. You will see two tabs: Estimate Info and Project Info.

Estimate Info tab

Start your new estimate by entering its details in the Estimate Info tab.

  1. Enter a title for your estimate. You cannot enter a title that has been used for another estimate.
  2. If you would like to select a folder where your new estimate will reside, select Browse. The Browse For Folder dialog appears, allowing you to navigate to a folder for your new estimate. Once you have selected a folder, select OK to return to the New Estimate Wizard.

How do I create a new folder for my estimate?

    • In the Browse For Folder dialog, select the Make New Folder button.
    • Enter the name of the new folder in the Create New Folder dialog, and then select OK.
    • Select OK to select your new folder and return to the New Estimate Wizard.
  3. Choose a customer from the drop-down list, then select Next.

Create a new customer on the fly: If you enter the name of a customer that does not already exist in your resource database, B2W Estimate will prompt you to create a new customer. The Create New Customer dialog will appear. The required fields for creating a new customer are Name and City.

Jump to a certain place on the Customer list: B2W Estimate's "type-ahead" feature can help you find a customer. Enter one or more letters of the customer's name into the Customer dropdown.

Search for an existing customer: Select the Lookup Customer button .

Sort the Customer Lookup dialog by column: You can change the sort order of the listings in the Customer Lookup dialog. Select on the column heading to sort by company name, location, or category.

  4. Choose a format for your estimate:
    • Pay Item — Uses pay items only.
    • Pay Item and WBS — Enables you to use both pay items and WBS.
    • WBS — Uses WBS only.

Project Info tab

The Project Info tab gives you the option to link your estimate to an existing Trimble Connect project or create a new Trimble Connect project. This functionality is only available on systems with TC1 subscription licensing hosted in Trimble Cloud.

Select the Project Info tab to manage Trimble Connect project links.

  • No project link: Selected by default. Keep this estimate with no Trimble Connect integration.
  • Link to existing Trimble Connect Project: Select this option to launch the Select Trimble Connect Project dialog.
  • Create linked project: Select this option to launch the Create New Trimble Connect Project dialog. Complete the fields for Project name, Project server location, Description, and Start/End Dates.
