iCX Import
B2W Estimate allows you to import a list of pay items from any .TXT file in iCX format.
Import from iCX File Format
-
Create and open a new estimate in B2W Estimate.
-
Click the Tools menu, point to Import/Export, then select Import Pay Items.
-
The Import Pay Items Wizard appears. This wizard will guide you through the process of choosing an import format and importing the pay items.
-
On the Import Pay Items Wizard Welcome page, click Next.
-
On the Select Import Format page, click the iCX file format, then click Next to proceed.
-
On the Select Item Database page, you may select an item database from which B2W Estimate will pull related cost structure. Matching items that have related cost structure will be added to the estimate with the appropriate database information. Click Next.
-
On the Select Import File page, click Browse , then browse to and select the import file. Click Next. B2W Estimate will scan the items in the estimate and the import file; comparing item numbers, descriptions, quantities, UMs, and fixed unit prices.
-
On the Review Units of Measure page, select units of measure for items that have no corresponding B2W Estimate UM. B2W Estimate will attempt to match the UM with a known UM but may not match them all. If you are unsure of which UM to use, select the "? - Unknown" UM. Click Next.
-
On the Review Changes page, carefully review the changes that will be made to the estimate.
-
Click Next, then Finish to import the items. The following information is imported to B2W Estimate from the iCX import file:
-
Item Number
-
Description
-
Unit of Measure Text
-
Quantity
-
Unit Bid Price
-
Line Number
-
-
These items will be flagged.
-
Comments will be attached to these items as a reminder that they have fixed prices.
-
The Lock Type for these items will be set to "Price".
Working with addenda
The steps to import an addenda are the same as those described above in the Import from iCX section. The only difference is that you are importing items into an estimate that already contains pay items, rather than to an empty one.
There are, however, two important considerations when importing an addendum:
-
It is recommended that you make a copy of the current estimate before importing the addendum. If you mistakenly import the incorrect addendum you run the risk of losing all of the costing that you've done on the estimate.
-
The final page in the Import Pay Items Wizard is the Review Changes page. Review the list of changes very carefully. Item level changes are listed with one of the following statuses:
Status Description Added New items that will be added to the estimate. Modified Items that already exist in the estimate that will be modified by the addendum. (I.e. description, quantity, UM, or unit price has changed.) Removed Items that currently exist in the estimate, but are not present in the addendum file. These items will be deleted from the estimate. There is no method of restoring this information once it is deleted.
